Look! I did Stuff!!
Published June 22nd, 2008 in Fairy Doors, Resin, random craftynessWell well well who’d have thought it! Since I last blogged I have actually done some things. The downside now is all the photos are on my main computer and I am blogging from my laptop so I can’t actually show you any of these things yet but I will try and change that tomorrow.
What have I done? Well I have taken some Fairy Door photos for my website, I don’t have them cropped etc. but they are there - approx ninety different designs in five colours, I am not intending to add all the designs to my new website but at least I will be able to offer some variety! Smallest munchkin was away on a nursery trip an hour and a half away by coach and he was gone the whole day
so to distract myself I took door photos. He had a fantastic time by the way.
I have also been doing a bit of experimenting. I have been wanting to be make a Fairy door that can be used outside to assist all those Fairies At The Bottom Of The Garden Types so ideally want to make a resin door. Whilst there are commercially available fairy door moulds I wanted to make my own so today I made an experimental cast of one of my doors. It worked really well I was very pleased at the detail the mould captured. To test the mould I made a plaster of paris door from my mould and you can see the wood grain and everything it is great. My next move will be to get some resin and cast with that. I intend to make resin doors slightly thinner than my current wooden ones and I also need to work out how they would attach to trees, fences etc. or do I leave that up to the purchaser?
I will try and post some photographs of my doors and my mould soon.
Byeee.
