Reduce and Reuse?

I am still trying to keep my ‘green’ halo shining and as such I try not to use plastic carrier bags where possible. I was out shopping yesterday and armed with my trusty reusable bag I made several purchases and each time politely refused a carrier bag, used my own, everyone was happy. Until I went to a shop called “Sports World” a place I am not sure if i have ever shopped in before, when I said “it is ok I have my own bag” the shop assistant said “It is company policy I NEED to give you a bag” Now, I did not want to make an issue out of it, if after all if it is a company policy then it is not the fault of the shop assistant so why should she face a tirade (not that I am the tirading type please note ;-)) so I am thinking of contacting the company to ask why when I made a £2 purchase of a small mobile phone pouch that I was forced to accept a full size plastic carrier bag and not be allowed to put it in my own bag or even my pocket.

Reading this back it sounds really petty but it just annoys me that I appeared not to be able to make a choice. If I manage to get any results I will post back. Must dash I have some muesli to knit !
