Voodoo Bears
Published June 2nd, 2007 in Resin, stuffI have been playing with resin. I don’t have any pigments yet so everything I make looks like ice. I wanted to try the resin before splashing out on pigment, I am also having trouble locating pigments online, resin and its associated products are all very toxic so special carriers are needed, so postage is always very expensive.I want some transparent pigment so I can make realistic looking gummi bears.
24 hours after they were cast I took them out of the mould, they were still very soft so i put pins into them - eek! I have no idea if this will work or not I am just experimenting, I am hoping to be left with a charm and a bead.

The pink bear is filled with seed beads, I only had enough resin left for half a bear so I filled it up with beads. The circle was moulded in an Ikea ice cube tray (cheers Kevin!) I was worried as the resin heated as it cured that it might melt the rubber mould but it didn’t.
Bear close up:

If I manage anything contructive with them I will show you!
