Over And Out (Almost)

Well 2008 is nearly over, not sure it has been the best of years, but can’t complain too much really we are all still here! I don’t want to do a look back, as my memory just isn’t up to it (lol) I am not a huge fan of resolutions either, they just stress me out as I feel I don’t achieve half of what I would like without adding to my load.  I have lots of plans, life plans, domestic plans, business plans, we will see.  It is easy to feel I can take on the world when the boys are off school as there is no clock watching and we are just busy ‘being’ but I know when they are back at school I will feel I am just rushing about and not achieving as usual. Oh well. Maybe I can try and be more positive in 2009!!!!

Hope you all have great celebrations tonight and see you in 2009 - lets make it is good one! :-)

Actually Allergic To Christmas!

The weirdest thing has happened to me.  I have had allergies all my adult life, hayfever, sneezing fits in dusty situations, sneezing/puffy eyes from cats etc etc.

This Christmas we had a real tree as usual. Usually our trees smell of pine and hardly ever drop needles. At all. This year our tree (bought from our usual tree guy) didn’t smell of pine and dropped needles at a most alarming rate, you just had to look at it and it showered the carpet with green stuff.  As you can imagine with the munchkins around this was *fun* The other day I had the hoover out and hoovered up the latest mound of needles and afterwards I could hardly breathe! I was wheezing for hours and coughing like I was smoking 20 a day! Didn’t really think much of it (I know!) So last night I got out the dustpan and brush to overcome the needle pile and the same thing happened, couldn’t breathe, coughing, ichy throat and neck. So I turned to trusty Google and found that real trees can grow a mold that can cause upper respiritory problems!

So it is official I seem to be allergic to Christmas (trees) Not sure if it is something I have just developed or whether it is just this tree.  Grrr don’t want to have to get an artificial one :-(

So today the munchkins helped me de-decorate the tree and put it out in the garden (I wore my fume mask as a precaution!!) , then hoover up the millions of needles it left in its wake. We have left the other decorations up cos I don’t want Christmas to be over yet. Stu is back to work today and only one week of the school holidays left waaaaaaaaaaaa!

Just Popping In

Hi all hope you all had a fabby Christmas.  We all a had a great time, Santa was good to the munchkins. Still sitting surrounded by boxes and too much chocolate!

We went for a walk today. The sun was shining in a lovely orange hue, really low winter sun, everything was covered in sparkly frost, it was beautiful. We had to come home at about 4 as it got really dark.

I have picked up another cold which is a total bore, hope I can shake it off in a couple of days.

I am not doing any crafting just now, think I will wait until the boys are back at school and I will do my usual craft clearout and tidy then access where I am going in 2009.  My priority will be my website I think.

Take care and stay healthy x

We’re Freeeeeeeeeee

Well, almost.  school has finished for Christmas but I still have my last fair to do.

Went to the church for the school Christmas service.  Tallest munchkin played a cello solo and was also in the nativity so was a total star :-)

Ages ago I took some photos of some new things I made but I am not sure if I ever posted them?

Here are some bottlecap magnets, I have made more of these for tomorrow because I really like them!  I will be stealing some for my fridge if I don’t sell them all.

I also made these Christmas cards

Byeeee.

’scuse my look

If you only read my blog and never visit my site then you will not notice anything, but if you currently go betwix (how do you spell that word??) then you will notice my site has a whole new look and it is a good one!  It is a small taste of whats to come and I am excited.  This is the mystery site and look that we have been working on but never getting going on really but hey there is always the new year.  It is a lot of work to make this blog look like the new site so you will have to put up with my old banner here for a while. Hey one step at a time :-)

My shop is currently closed.  It is getting too near Christmas to ensure Christmas delivery and the munchkins finish up from school tomorrow which means I am no longer free to skip on my lonesome into the post office.  Waiting in a long PO queue in the smallest Post Office you could imagine with three bored children just ain’t my idea of fun yunno? If anyone wants anything you can come to my last craft fair on Saturday or just contact me through my site and we can sort something out.

Cheers x

Fa la la la laaaaa

Well it is nearly upon us isn’t it? I have actually been quite organised with present buying this year.  This is party due to having no money so we had to spread the cost of Christmas we started buying the munchinks presents in October and as  a result have very nearly finished.  I need to do some wrapping soon because school finishes this weekend once the boys are off I need to do silent wrapping in the night which always makes me nervous.  I used to do all my wrapping on Christmas Eve but a couple of years ago I had a terrible flu bug thing and was confined to bed on Christmas Eve and the stress of still having to wrap presents was waay too much.

I will be shutting the shop very soon so if you wish to place an order you will need to be quick! If you are in the Glasgow area on Saturday then please come to The Lighthouse gallery (10.30 - 4.30) for last minute handmade gifts. Just of Buchanan Street.

I am trying to wind down a bit, life is always so hectic at this time of the year trying to keep track of Christmas plays, parties etc and that is not even me! So I will be shutting the shop, doing my final fair of the year and attempting to chill (ha!)

Take care x

Next Fair

redtree

This is just a quick post to let you know of the next fair I am doing on 20th December. In the Lighthouse, just  off Buchanan Street.

Fair Today

Was at a craft fair today and it was really good.  It was in The Lighthouse in Glasgow, beautiful venue, nice and light and airy.  The organisers did  great job bringing customers in.  I sold out of my I Spy bags which was great because I had very nearly given up on them.  The I spy bags gets LOADS of interest, loads of people say what a great idea they are but hardly anyone buys them, but not today :-D  I am going to make some more now.

I am back in the same venue next month.

Saturday 20th December, 10.30am - 4.30pm, Gallery 5 - The Lighthouse (off Buchanan Street) Glasgow.

Mouldy Me

I have been really busy this last week trying to make moulds and to cast some new Fairy Doors.  My wooden doors are taking sooooooo long to make that it is hardly worth my while, by the time I have marked out the wood, routed, cut, shaped, rough sanded, smooth sanded and done the final ‘bits’ then painted and finished I really need to charge about £10 to cover my time which is sooo frustrating, so I am trying to make some resin doors in the hope that I can produce them faster, most of the time I am playing ‘catch up’ and the fairy doors sell faster than I can make them which causes me a lot of stress.

I have spend the last week sculpting several doors and making several moulds.  Quite a few moulds have come and gone in this process.  As it stands I currently have three different moulds that I feel are useable although I am still not 100% happy with them, but will I ever be?

I have also spent the longest time trying to get the paint finish right on the doors, but I think I might be there now.  Sadly I don’t have a brown paint just now so am only making coloured doors but if this resin thing is a goer then I will just have to buy some more paint!

I am going to ask for a couple of opinions on the finished resin doors and then if it is positive enough for me I will go into production - woot!

I have a craft fair this weekend at The Corinthian Bar, Glasgow so this might be your last chance to buy wooden doors.  I have worked so hard on the resin ones I am not sure if I want to go back to all the cutting and sanding now.

Edited to add a rubbish quick photo of my moulds!

Mario Pumpkin

I am way behind now!  We have just had bonfire night and I am still posting about pumpkins!!

This is a second pumpkin that I carved. The boys wanted a Mario one so here it is:

I have to put in a disclaimer here: it was late and I totally rushed this so I feel it could have been done better but hey there is always next year!

We let of some fireworks last night. We usually get a box of assorted fireworks and some rockets. This year Stu accidentally managed to buy HUGE rockets. From the picture they looked the same as the ones we had last year but they weren’t - these, were enormous, the kind that part your hair when they go off. They looked great though :-D

I am still no further forward with photographs. I have been feeling a bit off for a couple of days and due to space constraints I have had to pack away all the photo stuff again. So it is all very frustrating.

I have a Craft Fair at The Corinthian Bar, Ingram Street, this Saturday, might see you there?
